MESH is currently seeking a talented and motivated WordPress Developer to join our digital team. As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for the configuration, architecture, custom development, and support of WordPress sites developed by you and the other developers on the team. You will frequently work with designers and front-end developers who are responsible for the visual and interactive layer of the site. PHP proficiency is a must and candidates should have experience working with WordPress (experience with other platforms, like Webflow, Craft, or other PHP content management systems, is a plus) and utilize modern PHP best practices.

Role Responsibilities

  • Configuring WordPress site architecture and integrating data into templates to pass along to a UI developer
  • Building a plugin that interacts with a third-party API or data source
  • Planning a migration that will bring content into WordPress from a client’s existing CMS
  • Working with our clients and internal team to plan out functionality, integrations and level of effort for large WordPress projects
  • Debugging a tricky content query performance issue and writing a fix or passing along recommendations to another developer
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling client sites
  • Create and maintain website and application documentation
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies and industry trends and apply them to operations and activities
  • Collaborate with designers and front-end developers to concept custom website designs
  • Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Squash any website issues or bugs that arise

Role Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a WordPress and/or PHP Developer
  • Proficiency in PHP with emphasis on WordPress theme and plugin development
  • Familiarity with best practices in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with database design and performance auditing
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in creative and/or digital agencies
  • Experience working with both account and creative teams
  • Successful track record of managing multiple client assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms and Timber
  • Certification or experience in platforms like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager
  • Knowledge of other PHP-based CMSes like Craft CMS or Drupal
  • Experience with devops tasks like CI/CD and deployment pipelines
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging in tools like BrowserStack or LambdaTest
  • Experience with handoffs from design tools like Sketch, Figma and/or Adobe XD

Requirements

  • Candidate must be able to present valid U.S. Work Authorization documents
  • Candidate must demonstrate verbal and written mastery of the English language
  • Candidate may be required to travel to attend in-person meetings with clients (such as Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia)
  • If remote, quarterly travel to headquarters for in-person group check-ins
  • Working hours are Central Standard Time
