As MESH continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced candidate to join our leadership team. The  VP of Client Services role is a critical part of our growth plans and ability to scale for the future.  As an integral member of the leadership team, the VP of Client Services will work closely alongside other leadership team members to set the direction of the agency.  He/She will work hand-in-hand with the other leadership team members to achieve the company mission by adopting and living the agency’s core values. Additionally, the VP of Client Services will oversee the overarching brand management discipline within the agency and provide strategic support to both the team and its clients.

Role Overview

The VP of Client Services is responsible for the performance and profitability of the Client Services team. This role is client facing and builds relationships with senior decision makers. This role reports to the COO and is responsible for the development and mentorship of the MESH Client Services team, which includes Brand Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators. The VP of Client Services will work closely with clients and MESH team members to establish long-term strategies and business goals.  He/She should possess an exemplary client services mindset with the ability to maintain and extend client success. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong sense of organizational and project level leadership. He/She should be able to communicate effectively across departmental structures, advocate client expectations, support the team, and deliver positive outcomes. He/She will be expected to drive organic growth of existing accounts by identifying new business opportunities that foster agency goals.

Role Responsibilities

  • Strategic point of contact for senior clients and establish strong relationships. 
  • Works with clients to uncover business needs, set objectives, develop strategies, and identify unique differentiators to help achieve client success.
  • Mentor, develop, and direct his/her team as needed to address challenges and deliver on the agency’s business and revenue goals.
  • Foster knowledge-sharing across all disciplines within the agency to ensure collaborative and informed work. 
  • Manage agency processes and facilitate information flow between brand management team and other agency disciplines. 
  • Oversee utilization of client budgets and maintain accountability for profitability
  • Responsible for organic growth within the assigned portfolio of business. Advocate for a productive and empowering working environment without sacrificing the quality of the work.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance in building and monitoring client budgets. 
  • Partner with Creative, Digital and Strategy discipline leads to work on existing and new business opportunities.
  • Provide thought leadership to clients by demonstrating marketing and industry expertise.
  • Oversee the development and negotiation of proposals and scopes of work.
  • Attract, recruit and retain high performance team members. 
  • Foster an environment where staff feels challenged, valued, and treated fairly.

Role Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience working in account management or client services in an advertising or marketing agency setting (highly preferred). 
  • At least 4 years experience performing senior-level client negotiation and management skills, with clear and substantive speaking, writing and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional new business and client-facing skills. 
  • Well-versed in all forms of media including direct mail, print, broadcast, non-traditional media, as well as interactive/online marketing programs that go beyond the scope of “media” (i.e., affiliate programs, direct e-mail and non-traditional buying practices). 
  • Experience in growing, managing, and inspiring internal teams.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills must be complemented by a relationship-building management style.
  • BA in business, marketing, communications, or advertising.  (MBA preferred, but not required)
